What is Down?
Down is a waterfowl's natural insulator, protecting them from cold air and water. It is a three-dimensional spherical plumule with thousands of soft fibers radiating from it in all directions. Because down grows close to the skin of waterfowl, its main job is to keep the bird's body temperature even by "trapping" air to keep it warm while adding as little weight as possible.
